There are some events that feel special before the first guest even arrives and our recent celebration with the 49ers was one of them.

Designed as an opportunity to honor the wives and partners of the San Francisco 49ers players, the afternoon centered around something that can sometimes exist quietly behind the excitement of professional sports: family.

Behind every game, every season, every road trip, and every demanding stretch of the NFL calendar are the people at home supporting, encouraging, adapting, and showing up alongside the players they love. This gathering was an intentional moment to recognize those significant others and the meaningful role they play within the larger 49ers family.

Celebrating the People Behind the Players

Professional football asks an incredible amount not only of the athletes on the field, but of their families as well.

The wives and partners of 49ers players navigate a world filled with constantly changing schedules, travel, long days, high expectations, and the emotional highs and lows that naturally accompany professional sports. Their commitment to their significant others extends far beyond what fans see on Sundays.

This event created space to celebrate that commitment.

More importantly, it reflected the immense gratitude the 49ers organization has for the families surrounding its players. The afternoon wasn't simply about gathering everyone together, it was about making sure these women felt seen, appreciated, and recognized as an important part of the community that makes the organization what it is.

An Afternoon Rooted in Connection

When approaching the event, we wanted the atmosphere to feel warm, elevated, and genuinely welcoming not only for the legacy and longtime families who have been part of the organization for years, but also for the new families becoming part of the 49ers community each season.

With every new year comes change: new players join the team, new partners and families arrive, and an already-established community has the opportunity to grow. It was important that the experience feel just as meaningful to someone attending for the first time as it did to families who have shared many seasons together.

Rather than creating something that felt overly formal or corporate, the goal was to create a space where everyone could feel an immediate sense of belonging. A place where longtime relationships could be celebrated, new friendships could begin naturally, and every guest could feel that they were genuinely part of the larger 49ers family.

Throughout the afternoon, there was a wonderful sense of community. Conversations flowed easily, relationships were strengthened, and guests were given an opportunity to connect outside of the demanding rhythm of football season.

Those are often our favorite kinds of events to create—the ones where beautiful design sets the stage, but the people in the room ultimately become the heart of the experience.

A Fall Luncheon at Levi's Stadium

With the luncheon taking place at Levi's Stadium in the fall, we wanted the design to feel distinctly seasonal while still being unmistakably connected to the setting and the 49ers.

Traditional autumnal plaids became an important foundation for the design, bringing warmth and texture into the space without leaning too heavily into expected fall décor. From there, we layered in a palette rooted in the visual identity surrounding us: the iconic Levi blue alongside rich 49ers red and touches of gold.

One of our favorite elements of the design was the unexpected use of denim throughout the displays. Incorporating jean as a true design material created a direct connection to Levi's Stadium while adding a tactile, slightly playful element that made the overall concept feel specific to this event rather than simply seasonal.

The color story was also intentionally built around contrast. Bright, saturated reds created moments of energy throughout the space, while subdued matte blues softened the overall palette and gave the richer tones room to stand out. Paired with plaid, denim, and gold accents, the result felt layered, textural, and autumnal while still maintaining the polish we wanted for the luncheon.

Rather than interpreting the team colors too literally, we wanted to take familiar elements and use them in a way that felt elevated and unexpected—something that belonged completely at Levi's Stadium while still feeling warm enough for an intimate afternoon centered around family.

Creating Experiences That Feel Personal

At Caitlin McDonald Events, we believe the most memorable events are the ones that make people feel something.

Beautiful flowers, thoughtful details, incredible food, and a gorgeous setting all contribute to the experience, but ultimately, hospitality is about how people feel when they walk into a room.

For this celebration, we wanted guests to feel valued.

We wanted the environment to communicate, without needing to say it explicitly: this afternoon is for you.

Being trusted to help create that experience alongside the 49ers Foundation was incredibly meaningful for our team. Events like this remind us why we love what we do—bringing people together, celebrating relationships, and creating thoughtful moments around the people who deserve to be recognized.

With Gratitude to the 49ers Family

We are incredibly grateful to have been part of an afternoon celebrating the wives and partners who support the San Francisco 49ers family throughout the season.

Their dedication to their significant others, their families, and their community deserves recognition, and seeing the organization intentionally create space to express that appreciation was incredibly special.

It was an honor for Caitlin McDonald Events to play a role in bringing that celebration to life.

And ultimately, it was a beautiful reminder that while football may bring everyone together, family is what makes a team feel like home.

And with that… Bang Bang, Niner Gang!
