Well guys, my personal passion project finally got the best of me… and we’re starting a tabletop company.

If you know me, this probably isn’t all that surprising.

I have always had a deep love for a beautifully set table... the layers, the textures, the unexpected little details, the pieces that feel collected rather than simply selected. I’m the person who notices the perfect glassware, gets way too excited over a beautiful napkin, and will absolutely remember a rare plate or serving piece I saw years ago.

Over time, that love has turned into a genuine passion for collecting tabletop pieces that feel special, distinctive and a little hard to find. The kind of pieces that make you stop and ask, “Wait… where did you get that?”

And so, Slate Event Collections was born.

Slate feels like such a natural extension of Caitlin McDonald Events because, at its core, this is really just another layer of something I already love deeply: hosting.

To me, hosting has never been about simply putting food on a table or making sure everyone has a seat. It’s about creating a feeling. It’s the glass someone picks up, the linen they run their hand across, the plate that makes the entire table feel finished. It’s about taking something functional and making it feel thoughtful.

That is exactly what I want Slate to bring to events throughout Oregon.

The collection will be intentionally curated with pieces that feel collected, elevated and full of personality — beautiful tabletop finds that can help transform a dinner, wedding or gathering into something that feels completely considered.

I’m especially excited to source pieces that aren’t everywhere already. Interesting textures, beautiful glassware, unexpected patterns, sculptural details and those slightly rare finds that make a tablescape feel intentional and completely its own.

In so many ways, Slate is giving me an excuse to turn one of my favorite hobbies into an entirely new creative outlet, which is both extremely exciting and probably dangerous for my storage space.

But more than anything, I’m excited about what this allows us to create.

Caitlin McDonald Events has always been about thoughtful design and meaningful hospitality, and Slate simply gives us another tool to layer into that experience. Another way to make a table feel personal.

Another way to make guests feel welcomed. Another way to make an event feel like you.

I cannot wait to start sharing the collection, the pieces we find, the tables we build and all of the little details that make hosting so much fun.

Welcome to Slate.
